Outstanding Local Students Honored with Seton Book Awards

New Haven, Conn. — The Yale Club of New Haven honored the winners of the 2009 Yale Club/Seton Book Award at a ceremony in Davenport College on Oct. 20. Forty-three local high school seniors were selected by their schools to receive the award in recognition of their outstanding personal character and intellectual promise. The annual awards are endowed by the late Fenmore Seton '38 and his wife, Phyllis Seton (pictured in the center with club president Michael Schaffer and Handsome Dan.)

The book award winners and their families spent the morning at Yale, enjoying a panel on student life, touring the campus, and having lunch in the Davenport College dining hall. They each received two books — one as a keepsake and one to present to their school library.
