New Haven, Conn. — The following prizes were awarded at Yale College Class Day on May 24.
THE ROBERT E. LEWIS PRIZE is given to seniors who best demonstrate the highest ideals of athletics and intramural competition.

THE WILLIAM NEELY MALLORY AWARD is given to the senior man who, on the field of play and in his life at Yale, best represents the highest ideals of American sportsmanship and Yale tradition.

THE NELLIE PRATT ELLIOT AWARD is given to a senior woman who, on the field of play and in her life at Yale, best represents the highest ideals of American sportsmanship and Yale tradition.

THE DAVID EVERETT CHANTLER AWARD is presented to graduating members of the Senior Class who best exemplify qualities of courage, strength of character, and high moral purpose.

THE ROOSEVELT L. THOMPSON PRIZE is awarded to members of the Senior Class for commitment to and capacity for public service. The recipients are outstanding for dedication to public service — service to “the team, the college, the community,” as Thompson expressed it himself. Like Thompson, they exemplify great human warmth, commitment to fairness, compassion for all people, and the promise of moral leadership in the public sphere.

THE JAMES ANDREW HAAS PRIZE awarded annually to “that member of the Senior Class in Yale College whose breadth of intellectual achievement, strength of character, and fundamental humanity shall be adjudged by the faculty to have provided leadership for his or her fellow students, inspiring in them a love of learning and concern for others.”
